The above event came to a conclusion on Sunday evening 10th September when both teams , officials , families and friends enjoyed a superb evening of food and drink in the Clubhouse. Many thanks to Lainey and her catering team and to Calum and the bar staff for their endeavours.
As winning team Captain I would also like to thank all the players who over three days of intense competition won back the Cup for Crail. (Score 81-63) In particular I would like to thank Club Captain Robert Meikle for giving me the opportunity and my team Vice Captain Derek Park who worked tirelessly on the computer selecting teams and posting results.
I would also like to thank those who worked so hard in the background to make this event possible, Elaine Johnson our Membership Secretary, and to Catherine Thomson, Alan Thomson and Kate Macdonald who manned the Halfway Houses and Leslie Patterson who acted as recorder and scorer.
In the Pro shop thanks go to Head Professional David Snodgrass and his team who provided the uniforms and first tee gifts and acted as starters. Thanks also to the Greens Staff who presented the courses in magnificent condition.
It would be remiss not to mention the losing Captain David van Dyke who brought over a team of absolute gentlemen to represent Brookfield Country Club. His team did him proud and I thank them for their contribution in making the match such a memorable occasion.
Finally I would like to thank the Management and Board of Directors of Crail Golfing Society Ltd. for their continued financial support and for ensuring that the Walter Hagen Cup remains a fixture in the calendar for many years to come.
We now look forward to 2025 when hopefully we can take a strong team to Brookfield C.C and for the first time successfully defend the Cup on foreign soil.
