Cast your eye over the trophy cabinet as you enter the clubhouse. Competitive golf is the foundation of our club life. Championships that date back hundreds of years are still played for today. Balloted weekly medals, mixed events, senior scrambles and junior matches fill our courses full of social competition and lively banter. Traditions worth preserving.

A Proud History

The club was instituted in 1786 when 11 local gentlemen "fond of the diversion of golf" founded our society on principles of golf and gathering. There are only six clubs in the world that are older. From the very beginning we have been a club that has created lasting traditions by always looking forward.

The Latin noun ‘socius’, meaning friend, gives rise to the term Society and we think it aptly describes our ageless community of members and our club's unique sociable spirit. The well appointed Balcomie Clubhouse, with it's stunning sea views is a special place to spend time with family and friends.

We are dedicated to ensuring that games will be played and lifelong friendships made for generations to come. Unique to Crail is a thriving Junior Club and Academy. Young golfers learning this great game with smiles and laughter all over the course - the Crail way.

The Club is situated in a beautiful corner of coastal Scotland. We are not isolated from our community we are very much part of it. Generations of families from Crail and the East Neuk have forged a centuries old bond between our Club and the community we are proud to belong to.
