Roof Project
Members will be aware from previous updates of the project to renew the flat roof above the Lounge and Spike Bar.
Planning consent has now been received and the process of contractor selection is well advanced. The target is for work to commence in October before the weather breaks.

A small display explaining the scope of the project will be going up in the clubhouse shortly.
The lead on this project for the Society is David Roy and any questions should be addressed to him.

H & P Sub-committee
It is 6 months since incorporation and the H & P Sub-committee has been busy with several issues.
Maintenance work has been carrying on with the following completed:
External paintwork to clubhouse, fitting a new hand dryer in the gents toilet, refurbishment and repaint of the Craighead toilets, making safe the derelict building on our land at Kilminning, repairs to doors, service to the biomass boiler, repair to gents toilet after a water leak etc.
The committee has also been looking at the management of Health and Safety and forward planning for a mix of work on the Society’s built environment.

In 2018 some excellent work was carried out on our H&S Management System and our Asset Register. Sadly, these had not been updated so a lot of effort has gone into refreshing these important process documents.
Good Health and Safety is vital to ensure that we as members, our staff and anyone who visits us are safe from danger. Club Captain Robert Meikle and his wife Gillian have done a great job getting things back in order.
The Society owns buildings and assets which require regular maintenance to keep them in good working order and to meet legislative requirements. A maintenance review has been carried out with a list of repairs now being considered by the H & P sub-committee.

Upcoming work
The quieter winter months are the time for carrying out a large amount of maintenance work. Planned for this winter are the following with other work still being considered:
Refurbishment of the club office
Refurbishment of the Ladies Showers
Re-decorating of the toilets in the clubhouse
Renewal of the extractor canopy in the kitchen
Repair to a damaged drain impacting the gents toilets and ladies toilets in the corridor off the lounge

There are several larger projects at various stages of preparation. Principle among these is the development of our practice facilities as requested in the recent member survey. This project is being led by David Snodgrass and Bob Meikle.
Future updates will advise members of other projects being considered.

And finally…………..there still seems to be some confusion about the area excavated behind the 14th tee on Balcomie. The excavation was exploratory work for a potential new buggy store. The current Board paused this project to allow full consideration to be given to the use of our land. Consequently, there will be no development here in the immediate future. The area has been planted with wild flowers to improve the visuals of the area until a decision is made on how we will progress. Members will be fully consulted on any proposals.
